Orphaned cougar cubs progressing well at Toledo Zoo

The cougar species is found in North, Central, and South America. It is very closely related to the common house cat and does very well in captivity. Unlike other big cats, the cougar can not roar, but it purrs like the house cat. The cougar is currently a protected species in the United States due to its endangered status with the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
