Coelacanths are very elusive deep sea creatures, and they are very large in size, reaching 6.5 feet or more in length and weighing up to 198 lbs. They can open their mouths extremely wide to consume large prey.
Biologists thought this creature to be extinct over 65 million years ago (along with the dinosaurs) until a South African museum curator discovered a live specimen on a fishing trawler in 1938.
