Sightings of white cougars are rare but do occur at times, especially in the state of Texas. For a time, these sightings were consider only rumors and unconfirmed sightings.

In 2011, a white cougar was born at the Attica Zoological Park in Greece and was aptly named "Casper" proving white cougars are a possibility in nature.
